The Loo Palace (or Paleis Het Loo, as the locals refer to it), located in the heart of the Netherlands, just outside of Apeldoorn. More than 300 years old, this former royal residence has undergone extensive renovations and was reopened to the public in 1984. From the moment you step inside, you’ll be instantly transformed into another era where you will see how the royal family of the Netherlands, princes and monarchs of the House of Orange Nassau once lived.
A very popular tourist attraction for very good reason, a visit to Palace Het Loo also includes a visit to one of Holland’s prettiest parks. The park is open to visitors throughout the year and includes more than 10,000 hectares of land with stunning streams of forest and heath country. Before you leave, do not forget to take a stroll through the palace gardens with feature an aesthetic that is characteristic of the formal 17th century symmetrical gardens. After spending a day touring the beautiful The Loo Palace, stop to rest and recharge at one of the two on-site restaurants. Restaurant de Balzaal is located in the west wing of the palace near the croquet court and has many places to sit and take in the stunning views from the lounge or terrace.
The Prince Henry George is located in the stables square and overlooks the entire stables complex. This restaurant is a more casual option as it is a self-serve style.
