Flag Day is also known as Vlaggetjesdag Scheveningen, a fun (and free!) festival that takes place in the Dutch harbor of Scheveningen. Flag Day happens every year in June and was originally the day when fishing boats in the harbor were decorated before setting sail to catch herring. Even though the Dutch use more modern forms of fishing practices now, Flag Day is still a popular festival that residents love and that draws in tourists who are visiting the area.
